Lake Rotopounamu Hike
This greenstone lake nestled on the side of Mt Pihanga at the South of Lake Taupo, the special place for tree lovers and bird watchers. It was formed by a giant landslide 10,000 years ago and the walk around the lake through stunning podocarp and beech forest native bush making for a very enjoyable outing. Your guide will meet you at your accommodation and transport you by 4WD to the walk.
Hike time: 2 hours. Travel time: 1.5 hours return. Medium level of fitness required. Return can be arranged by helicopter if required.
Taranaki Falls Hike
This hike starts at the foot of Mt Ruapehu, and is an easy 2 hour walk over volcanic terrain with spectacular views of both Ruapehu and Mt Ngauruhoe. Cameras essential! This hike takes place through the Tongariro National Park.
Hike time: 2 hours. Travel time: 2.5 hours for return. Medium level of fitness required.
Silica Rapids Hike
A highly varied walk from in Whakapapa Village to the rapids through mountain beech forest the track winds alongside a cascading stream to arrive at the creamy-white terraces of the Silica Rapids. Moving away from the rapids, the track climbs the side of a tussock-covered lava flow. Sub-alpine plants amid a mixture of swamp and tussock country surround the track as it returns to the Bruce Road . This hike takes place through the Tongariro National Park.

Bird Watchers Hike
This is an easy walk for people interested in bird watching who only have limited time. There is a great variety of native birds and stunning forest to be viewed on this walk and the travel time is only approximately 30 minutes from Lake Taupo. We supply full binoculars and packs if required and morning and afternoon tea can be supplied with prior arrangement.

Kinloch Bay to Kawakawa Bay - Walk/Cruise Package
Depart from your accommodation by 4WD to Kinloch, the recognised beginning of the "Lake Taupo Western Bays", where your hike begins. The small lakeside settlement of Kinloch is a 15 minute drive from Taupo. The destination is Kawakawa Bay, a remote, secluded bay on the shores of Lake Taupo, only accessible by boat or on foot. Glorious views are obtained as the track climbs from Whangamata Bay along cliff tops, through regenerating bush, Rewarewa forest then over a saddle before descending to Kawakawa Bay. This is a two hour walk and requires a good level of fitness. On arrival at Kawakawa Bay at the end of your hike, your launch will be waiting and a well-earned sumptuous lunch awaits. On the cruise back to the Taupo Marina, you will visit the famous Maori Rock Carvings of Ngatoro Irangi at Mine Bay and have the opportunity for trying your hand at some trout fishing.
