FLy FIshing for trout
The North Island of New Zealand and Taupo specifically provides some of the most spectacular fly fishing in the world. Chris Jolly Outdoors' specialist fly fishing guides have the local knowledge and expertise to show the experienced angler how and where to fulfill their dreams of catching a Rainbow or Brown Trout. Whether your a novice or long-time fishermen they will ensure you enjoy your Taupo fly fishing experience.
There are many streams and rivers flowing in and out of Lake Taupo and your guide will take you to the area most suitable to your abilities and time constraints. Wilderness fly fishing is an incredible option for the more experienced fly fisher. You are taken by helicopter with your guide into remote mountain rivers where the "big browns" await. The best time for wilderness fly fishing is December through to March. The tributary streams will still produce smaller trout to a well presented dry fly but most often the action is in the hills, east of Lake Taupo.
We have the ratio of 1 guide for 1-2 clients. Should you wish to book a larger group we can arrange that for you. Transport to and from your local accommodation via 4WD is included. A fly fishing license for each angler is compulsory and this can be organised by your guide on the day.
Our guides are also available for lessons should you wish to learn some fly fishing tips and techniques before heading into the rivers. Depending on your accommodation, this can often take place on the hotel lawn the evening before your fly fishing half or full day trip.
